tempted to change into hemingway

  1. Hello!i have tested,the new theme hemingway,which i love,but there is only one problem:how to delete the black on the header,and change the menu colour?havent changed theme yet.thank you

    The blog I need help with is ilmondodicate.wordpress.com.

  2. Just to make sure, is this the theme you are looking at? It looks cool! http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/hemingway-rewritten/

    Which blog are you thinking of switching to Hemingway Rewritten? This one? http://ilmondodicate.wordpress.com/

    Note that if you switch themes, your old custom CSS will get saved as a revision and won't apply to the new theme you change to. This is because CSS is theme-specific.

    Here is an example that will change the Hemingway Rewritten menu to a pink background with darker pink text on hover:

    .main-navigation {
    	background: #fff0f5;
    }
    .main-navigation li:before {
    	color: #444;
    }
    .main-navigation ul ul li {
    	background: #fff0f5;
    }
    .main-navigation a,
    .main-navigation a:visited {
    	color: #777;
    }
    .main-navigation li:hover > a {
    	color: #c71585;
    }
    .main-navigation .current_page_item a,
    .main-navigation .current-menu-item a {
    	color: #444;
    }

    You can adjust the color codes as needed.

  3. Yes its that blog and theme I want to test.yes i know i have to copy my css to the new theme,if i want to switch and i will try your code.thank you very much,and i will let you know what i decide

  4. Hi!!just to let you know,that i have been working on the hemingway rewrittent theme,but i need one more adjustement before activate it:i dislike the header,i would prefer it with out the black and showing only the imafe thank you

  5. To be clearer :i would like to delete the black where the title of the blog appears,and also seeing that i have various gruloup ages that frequent my blog who use mobile devises ,such as tablets,i would need the menu to be vosible to accomodate mobile users,and would like the black of the menu purple thanks

  6. And one more thing,i would need the menu at the top left liki in fontfolio.thankyou very much and i am very sorry for inconvinience

  7. Can you please answer,design simply?i would need the menu at the top,and to delete the title of the blog withthe black space

  8. @catezapp, it would be easier if we could see the site you are working on with these changes.

    I assume you are talking about the site title and tagline block in the middle of the header image. You can hide that with the following CSS.

    .site-branding {
    display: none;
    }

    To move the nav to the top, you have to use position: absolute; and that means that it loses its relationship with the other elements of the page. The following moves the nav to the top of the header image, and is set for a menu of a single line. If and when the menu goes to two lines, it will hide the top edge of the header image.

    .site-header {
        margin-top: 46px;
    }
    .main-navigation {
        position: absolute !important;
        top: 0;
    }

    Also, if you are using custom fonts, or have styled the navigation elements in anyway (font size, etc.) the "margin-top valued may have to be changed.

  9. Thank you,i will give those a try!will write when i do

  10. Very nice!one small other question,is it possible,to have the post content under the feature image,like in fontfolio?soerry,but i need it to be perfect before the switch,but like it already.thanks for the quick reply

  11. Is it possible to have the blog entry behind the feature image ?

  12. It would help a ton if you linked to examples. Can you always post example links with your future questions? If you could find one on the Fontfolio site and link it here so there's a good reference point for what you're trying to do, that would be helpful.

  13. hi,here is my current menumy blog

  14. I researched a little found this example of a post with a featured image on the Hemingway Rewritten theme demo site:
    http://hemingwayrewrittendemo.wordpress.com/2011/09/20/the-sun-also-rises-a-review/

    I don't see an easy way to move the featured image that is in the header area to the post area—so I'd say this theme is not a good choice if you want the featured images to look like they do in the Fontfolio theme. Sorry about that! I do think the featured images in Hemingway Rewritten are pretty cool the way they are designed though. You might consider switching and keeping that part of the layout as is.

  15. Now changed to illustratr!

  16. Hello,
    I've transferred to Hemingway Rewritten and I don't see the posts. I have the static page as the home page and would like to have the post section as a link to a blog.

    Please help.
    Thanks

  17. Hi @thebloggerboutique, I'm not finding Hemingway on any of the sites linked to your username.

    In general though, you need create a page to use as your blog page and then to go to Settings > Reading and set that page as your "blog" page. If you are not using a custom menu, then that page will automatically appear in your navigation. If you are using a custom menu, then you will likely have to go to Appearance > Menu and add that blog page to your custom menu and then save.

  18. Hi all, do you know if it is possible to change the transparency of the box for the site title or to change the location of the box?

  19. Thank you, thesacredpath.

    I removed it, after I realized and as you mentioned, that I could only have one blog page instead of having all the blog posts in a section. So, I went back to Twenty Eleven.

  20. @thebloggerboutique you are welcome.

  21. Hi @sarahpterry, in the future, just to prevent confusion for those coming to a thread later, can you start a new thread if you are asking a different issue? Many thanks in advance.

    To change the opacity of the black background behind the site title, add the following CSS which uses rgb color and an alpha transparency filter.

    .site-branding {
        background: none repeat scroll 0 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5);
    }

    The first three numbers in the parenthesis are the RGB color values and the fourth number, 0.5 is the opacity. The closer to 1, the more opaque, the closer to 0, the more transparent. Adjust that number as desired.
