Text box in post

  1. Does anybody know a way of inserting a text box in a blog post?
    I can't find any reference to this.
    I realise one could insert the text box as a table - but then how does one wrap text around a table?

    Perhaps one has to save the text box as an image file and inset it that way?

    The blog I need help with is openparachute.wordpress.com.

  2. do you mean like a frame sort of thing where you have a separate text area on top and to the left and then adjacent you have another separate area for text with a scroll bar?? Cause that can be done with tables, though without tables I don't know how you'd wrap the text around. If you mean like a text box like a form. Then that would take script and it's not allowed on wordpress.com blogs.

  3. Try this:

    <div style="border:1px solid black;padding:1px;"><p>TEXT</div>

    The first variable "ipx" controls the border thickness. Then you can set the color. The last variable sets the internal padding between the border and the text. The "p" command is to create some space between the top of the border and the first line of text. Adjust all of these until you get the look you like. 4. But openparachute wants text wrap too. That would be something like:
    <div style="border:1px solid black;float:left;width:40%;margin:12px;padding:12px;">

    Padding = space between border and inside text; margin = space between border and outside text. You can control each side individually by writing four numbers, e.g.:
    padding:2px 8px 4px 6px;
    (order is top, right, bottom, left)
    Or by specifying each one in full, e.g.:
    padding-right:12px;padding-bottom:6px;

    "How does one wrap text around a table?" By adding this after "table":
    align="left" style="margin:12px;"

  5. @ panaghiotisadam

    I'm not the OP, but thanks for that. I always stalk your replies on the forum since I learn so much :-)

  6. @sensuouscurmudgeon,
    @panaghiotisadam

    Thank you I always learn cool code hacks from you guys. = )

  7. @arcadata: Thanks; glad if I can help.

    By the way, better complete my full example so there can be no misunderstandings:

    <div style="border:1px solid black;float:left;width:40%;margin:12px;padding:12px;">
    BOXED_TEXT_HERE
    </div>

    (@t3ck: You got to be kidding...)

  8. @panaghiotisadam,

    I know basic HTML so that's why I made the comment
