Text widget

  1. I am sorry that this will seem a very basic question, but when someone says for example'
"put the Image code into a text widget", could you please tell me how to do that?
I did follow how to get the image code, but do not know how to get it into a widget! I am at the ABC beginners level!
    thank you!

  2. This is from the FAQ and will lead you through the process:

    http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/18/put-an-image-in-your-sidebar/

  3. Thanks for your quick reply, but it is the last part that I dont understand,
How do I get the copy of the URL into a text widget? I see the text widget on the
widgets page, but how do I enter something into it? I did tell you that I am
at the ABC level!! Sorry to be so dumb!

  4. There's a button on the widget that looks like a box with lines on it. Click that and it will open up a place to paste the code.

  5. I have actually found it!! I am still doing something wrong.
I copied the HTML code from Bloglines, opened up a text widget and
pasted in the code I copied. I clicked on " save" and then went to my website,
the blogline feed not showing up and when I went back to widgets, the text widget
that I entered the code into is not in my sidebar , but back down in the bottom
    of the selection widgets!! HELP!!

  6. The sidebar is cached so it could take an hour or so to appear. You might try clearing your cache or doing a forced reload.

ETA: what is the url of your blog? The site attached to your id is not a wordpress.com blog.

  7. Thank you. I don't see it in your sidebar either. This might sound like a dumb (or insulting) question, so please don't take offense but after you pasted the text in the widget, did you close the widget before hitting Save?

Can you post the code here between backticks? The backtick key is just to the left of the 1 on your keyboard.

    Here's an illustrated reference http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/12/24/using-the-text-widget/
You click the blue and white icon on the right hand corner of a widget to open it and configure it. When you are done you click the "X" on the top right hand corner of the widget to close it. After that, you must also click "Save Changes".

  9. Thank you to all for your help, I have learned something!!

There is still hope for me!

  10. You are making lots of progress and you are bound to improve by leaps and bounds. Just remember that Rome was not built in a day, okay ...*lol*.
Here's a link to a Beginner's Guide that may be worth bookmarking http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=11280
