The blog name I want says it already exists but I have checked and it doesnt?

  1. The blog name I want says it has been taken but when I type it into the URL and go to the site it shows that the .com version doesn't exist and the .wordpress.com version has been deleted. If this is so, why can I not have the name?

    The name I wasn't is jessandthecity.wordpress.com / jessandthecity.com

The blog I need help with is theavantgardeguide.wordpress.com.

  2. jessandthecity.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.

To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.

You cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

  3. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 - 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What's important during that stage is to be patient.
