The chinese character don't show right when Importing from Posterous

  1. After importing my Posterous to WordPress, I found all the Chinese font are displayed by "?", Does the import tool not support Chinese? Is there any solution to solve it? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is scraptw.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi scraptw,

We've gotten a few reports of this happening with other users as well. We're working together with the team at Posterous to get this fixed.

Unfortunately we don't have an ETA just yet, but we hope to get this solved soon. We'll update this thread once it's fixed and you'll have to a fresh export/import at that time.

  3. Posterous has let us know that this issue should now be fixed. You'll need to re-download your Posterous export file and try the import again.

Just let us know if you'd like us to empty out your WordPress.com site before you do. This will delete all pages, posts, comments, images and other uploaded files, as well as categories and tags. It's not reversible.

Otherwise, you can empty your site manually.

Please let us know if you need any help.

  4. Hi,

I have request a new backup from Posterous and import it again, but I still have the same problem...T_T

  5. Hi Justin - I'm sending you an email with some further questions, please look out for it.

  6. Posterous says that they've now fixed the issue with corrupted characters. You'll need to generate a new export from your Posterous site. We suggest you have a look at the file first to make sure the characters look OK. Just let me know if you have any trouble with the import into WordPress.com.

  7. Dear Kathryn,

I tried again and the problem had been solved. Thanks you so much for your help.

  8. Excellent - glad to hear it. Happy blogging!
