The Columnist Theme & Problem with Image Gallery

    Good day,

    I have been noticing that whenever I create a new post or edit an older post and I want to make a change to the gallery; after submitting and viewing the post the images do not appear on the first load. I often have to refresh the page or go to another post and come back in order for the images to appear.

    Is this an issue with the theme itself or an issue that is affecting all WordPress.com users?

    I am not experiencing this. I am using FF17.

    This is happening to me as well. I've been using Chrome, but this appears to be a recent problem. Same thing when I tried it in Safari, it only displays the gallery when I reload the page.

    Firefox loads these odd tiny thumbnails (http://i.imgur.com/moMmj.jpg) even though I'm using the "Square" gallery, until I reload, then they display normally.

    I should add that I'm NOT using the Columnist theme, so it seems like a site-wide issue.

    @timethief I haven't tried it on FF yet since my primary browser in Chrome. I am just concerned that if others view it from Chrome they will run into this same problem.

    @trietybird I am glad to hear that it is not the theme that is causing the problem and that it appears to be site-wide. Hopefully it gets fixed in the upcoming days. At least I know that I don't have to change my theme.

    Your username does not link to your site, nor did you provide a link to it (which is the polite thing to do for other readers of this forum),

    but I must say to all in this topic: I see your galleries just fine. If you are having trouble viewing them, then perhaps it is because you have browser issues:

    Since yesterday, any Gallery using the "type" parameter does not load on first load for me, i.e. on the homepage of any site. Clicking through to the single post does load the Gallery. The default thumbnail grid is unaffected.

    Chrome23 on Win7/SP1

    I take that back. Clicking through to the post does not always make the Gallery load (I'm using Triton Lite).

    @1tess You'll have to forgive me, this is the first time I've had to come to forums for assistance. How do I get my username to link to my blog? Thanks.

    Hi there,
    I can help with that. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

    Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

    @justjennifer, yup, this is the exact problem I'm having, and I've tried viewing it on Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

    At first I thought it was because my browser was loading a saved version of the site, so I cleared the cache/cookies but still the same. And this problem only cropped up 2-3 days ago, I haven't changed my browser, computer or ISP in the meantime.

    Check your posts again, please. Staff have pushed out a fix for Galleries using the "type" parameter which may have fixed this problem. See reply here http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/new-gallery-formats-arent-working-as-expected?replies=19#post-1104487
