@sr: There are "millions" of UNhappy ones... like myself who had no idea this forum existed!

I'm sure that others would vent if they were aware of this forum!

  2. is the fact that my pictures wont display on my home page, and to see them you have to click continue a bug of the new system that will be sorted out or is there something that i should be doing

  3. thebusyteapot - please start a new thread for your issue rather than adding to these long ones, thanks. Click here to start a new thread:

  4. is the fact that my pictures wont display on my home page, and to see them you have to click continue a bug of the new system that will be sorted out or is there something that i should be doing

  5. no one is answering, sorry to be a pain but im tearing my hair out. I have started a new thread.

  6. thebusyteapot, if you're referring to Featured Images, the ability to designate a Featured Image after upload is gone at the moment, but we are working on brining it back.

For now, you can still set a featured image via the old method: http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image

  7. thebusyteapot, I also left the above reply in your new thread: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/my-picture-wont-display-on-my-blogs-home-page

For the sake of keeping everything clean and tidy here, please reply over there.

@time: Just a "PS"... while I appreciate your experience and your insight, the implication suggested in your previous comment was uncalled for.

There is no need to "step away" from my site for "health and sanity just for today." This is a forum where one can speak. Do hope your snark was just that... a stab at humor. Poor humor, but humor nonetheless.

    Thank you.

  9. @stoopidhousewives
I most certainly was not being snarky. My intent was to be kind to you. It's my experienced that when I walk away for awhile and get some fresh air things don't seem as bad to me.

  10. kathrynaultnoble - the images on this site seem to be opening without a carousel: http://kathrynaultnoble.wordpress.com/

For example, when I click the first image in the first post, it opens like this:

    http://kathrynaultnoble.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/new-scans-2-k-crop.png

Are you still seeing a carousel?

  11. The ability to the following within galleries should now be possible: reorder images, randomize their order, reverse their order.

It's no good saying start a new thread and then being directed to this one. Either way this is one of the most appalling WP changes ever. I can no longer edit my photos.

If ever anything would send me back to blogger this is it. And I will write about it on every single one of my blogs.

@rough If it makes you feel any better... have the same problems! The customer is never right... at WP.com!

  14. Wellcome to the (few) unhappy ones club, roughseasinthemed. It'a just 3 people against millions, but we shall prevail!

@ shw and srh thanks. I stopped writing on here for exactly those reasons. But this is beyond the pale AND made me comment. I doubt the complainers will prevail. I just want to make the point that this is a crass change, and quite frankly, if WP wants to only cater for teenagers they should say so. Because that is how we are all being treated.

@rough At least you got a response!! At least you weren't advised to "step away" from the issues for "health reasons"! Could not believe that response.

You are correct re WP catering to teens! Never thought of that.. but, a great observation! Another commenter said that WP.com is the guinea pig for changes made available later on WP.org.

Still think that WP should give users the option to opt-in or opt-out of any of their blanket changes.

  17. So, after reading through all these posts and given the fact that most of us are unhappy, what it boils down to is that WordPress.com is only a "guinea pig" for WordPress.org!!! All in all that really sucks!

  18. roughseasinthemed - I've replied in your other thread.

  19. Now, I cannot add a hyperlink to my post (yeah, that's broken as well). What the heck is going on?!!!!

  20. To all those who posted and are unhappy, while your feelings are understandable, changes to software are inevitable.

WordPress.com is incrementally updated, sometimes with up to 16 updates a day! Many of these changes/improvements you may not be aware of. It's only when there are major changes rolled out, and after being here for nearly 6 years I have seen a number of them, that people are caught up short and upset.

However, please stay focused on giving Staff the information they need to help you solve whatever problem it is you are having with your site. Detailed information such as:

-What were you trying to do?
-What did you click on or do last?
-What happened / what did you see?
    -What browser are you using?

    Thanks!

  21. Also, if you wish to have total control over your site, the best way is to go self-hosted using the WordPress standalone software.

Here are some considerations about switching to WordPress standalone mentioned by thesacredpath, another forum volunteer:

You will have to register a domain name (if you do not have one) hire a third-party web hosting service such as bluehost, dreamhost, etc., install and configure the WordPress.ORG software and transfer all your content to that self-hosted blog. Figure an average monthly cost (all things included) of about $10 to $25.

You will be responsible for all installations, all upgrades, all backups and all troubleshooting. If something goes wrong with your site, such as installing a theme or plugin that kills it, you have to figure it out and fix it. WordPress has made it much easier to self-host sites, but there is still a lot more work involved.

  22. @justjennifer:
First of all, thank you for your time. I understand your arguments, but you'll have to agree that ANY update WP consider can´t involve loosing part of the information bloggers have been working on. And this is happening now. Was it inevitable? I don´t think so, but can be wrong. In adition, it's clear WP's main objective is to get the maximum profit, as many business. The more users it has, the more money it earns. It's not a charity org. It depends on its success with users.
Anyway, I'm not going to repeat again the some points 'cause they've clearly exposed in my previous comments. I'm gonna try yo stay focused,as you said:
-What were you trying to do? To keep writing tooltip titles readers could see by moving mouse over featured images, as i used to.
-What did you click on or do last? I clicked over the "add an image" and realised the media upload system had changed. That happened in November, the 29th.
-What happened / what did you see? I can't see tooltip titles now. Kathryn has been very kind and patient with my questions about it, and explained me that changes have deleted this option for main pics (at top of the posts), and it seems WP isn´t gonna give the users the choice to mantain the old system if they prefer it. I dislike this. Very much.
-What browser are you using? Mozilla Firefox 16.0.2

    Thanks again.

  23. Mozilla Firefox 16.0.2 is an outdated browser version. You can upgrade here http://browsehappy.com

  24. Done!
Dislike this media changes the same than before, but now my browser is updated...
    Thanks!

  25. You're welcome.

  26. I add images to my blog from an outside URL. Suddenly, I no longer am able to place them properly within the text.

Every image loads to the top of the page, no matter where I have placed my cursor. The only way to place them properly is to do a copy and paste and then delete the original.

I am using updated Firefox with no add-ons. Yes, I have done the cache/cookie/restart business. This truly is a pain. At minimum, it ought to be possible to add images where I want them to be.

Any advice? I saw others had the problem in the beginning of this thread, but I haven't yet found either an answer or a suggestion of when the problem might be resolved.

  27. @shoreacres
There are others with the same issue waiting for Staff assistance in other threads.

  28. Using current Chrome and current Camino, I could always size my photos to 360 across to get the best display ratio given the width of my blog's column. Now the image gets cut off -- until you click on it to expand the view. This is incredibly annoying. The scaling no longer works, in other words. What can I do?

    Thanks.

  29. TT - thanks! I'll go snoop around in other threads.
