theme appearance saving problem

  1. Hello,

I'm having problems saving appearance changes for my blog.
When i go to appearance>customize and hit save it freezes on saving changes...

I've tried with different themes and different browsers but it's always the same...

The blog I need help with is renatagravina.wordpress.com.

  2. This thread will be moved to the CSS Forum for you. Please do not create a duplicate thread.

  3. @renatagravina, I've tested Appearance > Customize in my own blog and it's working in my tests. Would you mind please posting back here with a bit more information?

Exactly what changes were you trying to make when the problem happened? Is it just an issue in one of the Customize panels, or all of them?

I see that you have two separate blogs on your WordPress.com account. Does the same problem happen for both blogs?

Can you verify what browsers and browser versions you've tested?

Can you try clearing your browser cache as a troubleshooting step?

  4. Hi @desingsimply,

I have the same problem that @renatagravina have...
I tested it with diferent themes, browsers like explorer, chrome and firefox and also I tried to clear my browser cache... and the problem stills unsolve... I can't simply change my theme background to a simply black colour... In my classroom more people have the same problem..

    Any more Ideas?

    Thanks marc

  5. I have the same problem that @renatagravina have...

To clarify, does the problem happen as soon as you click Appearance > Customize, or does it only happen after you click the Save button?

I tested it with diferent themes, browsers like explorer, chrome and firefox and also I tried to clear my browser cache...

Thanks for testing! Those are good first troubleshooting steps.

I can't simply change my theme background to a simply black colour...

What is the link for the blog where you are seeing the problem happen?

Does it work if you try from Appearance > Background?

In my classroom more people have the same problem..

Can you tell me a little more about this? Do you know if your local network has any programs or firewall rules that could be blocking WordPress.com scripts?

  6. I have the same problem. When I save the appearance changes in my blog it freezes on saving changes...
The blog appears with an incorrect format.
I have already cleared the caché of my browsers (Firefox and Explorer)

  7. @continuitytgs, I have been unable to reproduce this issue in testing so far.

The more detail about the problem you can tell me, the more it will help. Here are some questions:

    • What browsers and browser versions have you tested?
    • What exactly are you trying to save: CSS, Fonts, something else?
    • What is the link for the blog where you are seeing the problem happen?
    • Do you see any error messages?
    • If you are able to view your browser's web console in the developer tools, do you see any errors show up there as soon as you click the "Save" button?
  8. Some updates were made about 4 hours ago to the Appearance > Customize section. Can anyone who was having trouble before please test again and let me know in a reply here if you're still having trouble saving? If you're still having trouble, it would be really helpful to know if you see any error messages at all or if you can answer any of the other questions from above.

  9. •What browsers and browser versions have you tested?
IE8 (unsupported) and Mozilla Firefox v22.0

•What exactly are you trying to save: CSS, Fonts, something else?
I was trying to save the appearance of the theme... the background...

•What is the link for the blog where you are seeing the problem happen?
Sorry, it is a private blog...

•Do you see any error messages?
No. Only the main page appears unformatted. The Posts and About pages appear correctly

•If you are able to view your browser's web console in the developer tools, do you see any errors show up there as soon as you click the "Save" button?
I don't use the developer tool.

I cleared the caché in both browsers, Temporary Internet files and temp files. I restarted my computer... and nothing!

This morning have tested this page in other PC and... it works!

I think it is a problem related with the proxy server of my company.
I will continue with my investigation...

    Thanks for your help!

  10. Thank you for answering I got trough cos I discovered it was my fault. Brief I inserted a pay-tool so that I couldn't go ahead. My problem was me! Anyway I think sometimes new wordpress customer are messy

  11. @continuitytgs, Firefox 22 should work. I asked for the blog link to make sure it's a WordPress.com blog and to check the theme. Also, I was looking for any trends that might have been the same since a couple different people reported a similar issue.

•Do you see any error messages?
No. Only the main page appears unformatted.

A screenshot might be helpful if you are able to provide one.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

However, it does indeed sound like a network or firewall issue since it works on a different PC. It's strange that just the home page is affected! If you want further help looking for details, let me know and I can walk you through how to check Firefox's web console for errors in case that helps shed some light on the issue.

  12. @renatagravina, thanks so much for the update! It helps a lot to know stuff like that because it might help me know what to ask other people if they report the same issue. Cheers :)

  13. Hi! I have that problem too! I clean caches and everything i ve read in forums... what can i do? my site is quimicera.wordpress.com what i want to do is to change menu color

  14. Do you have the Custom Design upgrade? Not all themes are customizable.

  15. i dont have the upgrade, but i did it before..

  16. @quimicera Your customize menu was in Custom Design Preview mode. I cancelled out of the preview mode and your customize menu appears to be working now. Try changing colors and let me know if that doesn't work for you.

  17. :S no, if you see my menu in black.. it´s not working.. i wanted in blue for example....

  18. (sorry for the delay!)

  19. I tried several times and the sites seems that does it.. and keeps saving... but when you refresh the change is not saved

  20. Hi,

It looks like your change was saved because I can see your menu in blue. Here is a screenshot of what I can see: http://awesomescreenshot.com/0891k2xn59

It sounds like your browser is showing you a cached version of your site. Try clearing out your cache and see if that fixes the issue. Instructions are here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

  21. I did it already. I clear all cache and cookies.. (everithing!) and still doesn´t work...

this is my site (it´s not the one you sent)...
    http://awesomescreenshot.com/0111kcdp4f

    still doesn´t work :(

  22. @quimicera, is this the site you are talking about, http://quimicera.wordpress.com/ ? If so, the Custom Colors feature is part of the Custom Design upgrade. When you do not have the Custom Design upgrade and press the save button, it will save any change that are not part of the custom design upgrade, such as a header image change, background image or color change, etc.
