Theme change causes site content to vanish

    Morning.

I've just tried a new theme for my blog excusesandhalftruths.com, The Columnist. When applied, it seems to have caused all my content to vanish. All I have is half of the site title: it looks as if everything has HEAVILY right-justified. Currently checked the site on both Chrome and Firefox on both Mac laptops, with the same results. Applying Twenty Twelve gives the same result. Reverting to my old theme (Twenty Ten) seems to fortunately solve the issue (otherwise I'd be tearing my hair out at this point) but I'd be interested to know if there's anything I can do, as I'd dearly love to try out some of the new themes available.

    Thanks,

    Rob

The blog I need help with is excusesandhalftruths.com.

  2. You customized Twenty Ten and failed to remove the customization before you switched to The Columnist. CSS is theme specific. If you have custom CSS and later change themes, you need to delete whatever CSS you have in the Editor, otherwise, you’ll get undesired results.

To ‘reset’ a theme, you need to delete the CSS in the Editor, make sure the “add to existing CSS” radio button is checked, then save. Things should go back to normal.

Ah, I see! Excellent. Thanks very much for your help.
That makes complete sense: I have been tinkering under the hood with Twenty Ten quite a bit.

  4. You're welcome. :)
