theme choices

  1. I have an outline for the things I need for my blog. but I am having trouble sorting through the possibilities with themes. I need widgets, left sidebar, photos, flexibility (meaning sometimes photo priority other times word)

The blog I need help with is foodiszen.wordpress.com.

  2. The themes available on WordPress.com can be seen here:
    http://wordpress.com/themes/
    or dashboard—>appearance—>themes
There are filters so you can sort through some of the features of each on Preview.

I'd suggest you put up some content so you can experiment with how the different themes will look and act as you want to use your site. You could make your blog private so potential readers won't see the construction, or get another free blog to experiment on. Or you could choose to let the blog be public but closed to search engines. That way if you have a question we volunteers would be able to take a look at specifics.

  3. For content, you don't have to write actual posts or pages. Try lorem ipsum for text. And for images, just choose some from your collection (be sure to optimize for the web first).

I'm a visual person, so I need to see how things look before making any decisions…

  4. Here are a couple of links about post formats so you can feature both text and images in different posts:

All themes here allow widgets, but we cannot use plugins. Here is a list of widgets available:

  5. Thank you for the help....it is greatly appreciated. I am looking at moving my blog, due to lack of support.
