Theme: oxygen - would like to remove left side bar

  1. I removed the widgets from the primary sidebar and also added this code in CSS editor: #content {
    margin-left: 0;
    }
    suggested on a previous thread but this has not resolved my problem. There is still a left sidebar, auto-filled with categories and archives. On the posts pages everything has shifted over so it has been partially successful but the text just overlays the unwanted text.

    I would like to remove the left sidebar completely and free this space up so that on the front page everything moves over the the left more, and on the posts there is more space for the text of the posts. I would like to keep the right sidebar. I have ben told this is possible in CSS but that it may change the image size. I'd like to give it a go...

    I cannot code at all. I am a doctor and medical school teacher. I would be really grateful for some help.

    My site is: http://www.quclms.com

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Not to worry as you will get the help you need. I tagged this thread to be moved to the CSS Forum for you. Please do not create a duplicate thread.

  3. Hey, in addition to the custom CSS you've already added, you'll also need to hide the left sidebar using the following snippet:

    #secondary {
    display: none;
    }

    Please note, this will also hide any custom menu set as a "Secondary Menu" that you may add in future.

    Then to change the width of the content on the homepage, use the following:

    .page-template-showcase-php #content-wrap{
    float: left;
    width: 100%;
    }

    Let me know how you get on with this, and post back if there's any more tweaks that are needed after you make these changes. :)

  4. Fantastic - that has worked perfectly. Thanks so much for your help.

  5. You're welcome. Glad it worked.
