I am just beginning this process and found a theme I want to use from Elegant themes..
I want to transfer a theme from Elegant themes over to my wordpress.com and set it to a domain that is linked somehow. Not sure what that means or what I did to create that? I really wish there was someone I could talk to who could give me a summary of step by step directions!

The blog I need help with is jacquelinehansen1.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there,
The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog at http://yahiatabdelghani.wordpress.com/ are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot upload any third party themes, create child themes or our own themes or edit templates.

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/adding-new-themes/

There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. Please read > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  3. and set it to a domain that is linked somehow

Do you mean that you want to purchase your own custom domain?

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/

See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

See here for mapping a sub-domain (for a domain with an existing website) to your WordPress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-subdomain/

Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 - 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What's important during that stage is to be patient.
