They tried to ban circumcision

Yep, that's right, a group in California attempted to make circumcision illegal. If you find this odd, interesting, or anything else really, check out my blog (http://daniellekeeler.wordpress.com) to read the full story. Leave a comment! I want to know what you have to say about it.

The blog I need help with is daniellekeeler.wordpress.com.

  2. LOL! don't think its possible though..... its gonna cause unnecessary cultural conflicts :p

  3. I have never understood why people circumcise. It is medically necessary is a small number of cases. but essentially, I am never in favour of interferring with nature's design.

Baby boys are born with a foreskin for a reason and as far as I am concerned, it should stay there!

  4. It's unnatural anyway, if we weren't meant to have foreskin, we'd be born without it.

I understand your point about being born with it, but I want to ask you one thing. I am not trying to sound accusing, I am honestly curious:
You say that boys are born with a foreskin, and for that reason, it should stay there. Is it not the same situation as the appendix? It seems to serve no purpose now (maybe it did at some point, but in the modern day it does not), and it can cause a variety of health issues such as infections. Why, then, should we not take the preventative step of removing it before it can cause any problems?

  6. It does serve a purpose, when the penis isn't erect it serves as a layer of protection for the urethra and stops infections, it protects the development of the penis when a baby is in the uterus and it enhances sexual pleasure. It can cause conditions in some cases where it can't fully retract or is too tight but its very rare it causes infections so long as you wash properly.

Although saying that I don't agree with fining and jailing someone if they wish to have it removed, when there's much worse crimes out there people need to be focused on, people do far worse things to their body than lop off a bit of skin.

Seems like this group need a hobby, 'Mericans be crayzee.

I didn't know that it protected the urethra, that's a good point. I, personally, think it is the best thing to have it removed, but now I can understand where someone would not want that. And I am in agreement with you on your second point, there are so many things that are more worthy of jail time than having your child circumcised, especially given that circumcision does offer benefits as well. These people have way too much free time.
