This credit card was issued from an unsupported country

  1. I m from Sri Lanka. I want to have domain from wordpress. But once I insert my credit card details, it says " This credit card was issued from an unsupported country " . But Sri Lanka is Pay Pal supported country. what is the reason for this, What should I do now ?

    Thank you

The blog I need help with is tharangatsr.wordpress.com.

  2. WordPress.com uses PayPal as our payment processor, and as such, can only accept payment from countries they support: https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

In addition to major credit cards Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal WordPress.com can accept echecks and some debit cards.

The debit card must have a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it, and should work just like a credit card when selecting the VISA or Mastercard option on the payment form, even though it's a debit card.

    More about echecks here:

  3. I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up and if you subscribe to it you will be notified when they reply.

  4. But how ever I m using same credit card for pay pal transaction. So pls let me know, what should I do ?

  5. You can't. You must get a credit card issued from a supported country or you can use bitcoin.

  6. bitcoin is not supporting. But Isnt there any way to pay ? ( via pay pal or what ever way. because I m using paypay with out any problem )

  7. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience. We cannot currently accept Bitcoin payments for the purchase of domains or premium themes.

If you register a domain through another provider able to take payments for domain registration from Sri Lanka and you'd then like to map it to your WordPress.com site, just let me know what the domain is and we can get the mapping done for you.

Again, we're truly sorry for the inconvenience.
