To many posts in one day

  1. i have a poetry blog, with authors, is it possible to have to many posts for the search engines, might they see it as spamming http://poetscornerblog.wordpress.com/

The blog I need help with is dribblingpensioner.wordpress.com.

  2. Still wondering :)

  3. Still wondering.

  4. There is a 7 page page backlog for Staff http://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/modlook/page/7

  5. OH ! did you or was it marked modlook.

  6. Was marked. lol :D

  7. Just went to your link, they are going to be busy :)

  8. Howdy :-)

As long as the content is original, too many posts wouldn't be a ding with search engines. For comparison's sake, WordPress.com hosts Time.com site and CNN.com's blogs—they post a great number of posts each day and it isn't a problem.

In short, focus on good, original content and Google will be happy!

We're catching up... down to two pages and change :-)

  9. The posts are poetry from authors who will have them on their own blogs they could new but most are old posts.

You have a lot of posts to get through :)

  10. Duplicate posts could cause an issue—if they're posting the same poems in multiple places. In a perfect world, if one of the two could have a snippet (first stanza maybe?) with a link to the full poem would be best.

    Thanks!

    @Harry
This is TT logged in under my other username account. Publishing duplicate content across domains is aimed at increasing exposure by gaming search engine results. It's something that drives those who make a living by researching an writing right up the wall and up Google's nose. Believe me when I say that Google is onto it and has an algorithm that can and most certainly does detect it. Please have all your authors read what Google's position is on this misbegotten and opportunistic spam-like behavior and then stop doing it. https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66359?hl=en

  12. I know and understand what you are saying.

But to have a blog with authors ( I am an author on two other blogs ) is widespread and an author will to write content for another blog and also put it on their own.

Its just the same as re-blogging , is it not.

I know you only allow original content on yours.

  13. No it is not the same as reblogging because reblogging is an excerpt of only 55 words.

  14. @ kraftbj, you mean a re-blog.

  15. In a perfect world, if one of the two could have a snippet (first stanza maybe?) with a link to the full poem would be best.

kraftbj has described properly quoting a brief excerpt and attributing the authorship with a backlink.

  16. Thank you both, I do understand what your saying.

I was asking the question because the stats for the search engines are very low compered to my other blog and that could be the reason.

  17. Yes, that is definitely a reason.

  18. Thanks all. Reblogs are an option too, though I realize that many cases (likely on a site like your's too), you'd want a bit more control over what is appearing on your site instead of the pre-baked reblog options as well as uniformity if linking to sites off of WordPress.com.

Duplicate content can ding both sites—you and your author's—so either asking for exclusive content only on your site or only snippets of non-exclusive content should help everyone.

    Cheers!

  19. I do want control and I don't allow re-blog's for that reason, although I could always trash them.

Thanks everyone that's my question answered.
