Top Search bar.

  1. I'm relatively new to the site, so let me know if what I'm asking is idiotic... but! Is there any way to hide or move the top search bar from my custom header? If you'll look, it's cutting off a fair chunk of my main header. It's all pretty rough at the moment, and I'm not opposed to changing the top pic if it's not possible, but I figured there was no harm in asking.

I figure that, and a lot of the changes I'm looking to make, may only be possible with the CSS Upgrade? Looking to get it in the near future (I'm CSS/HTML literate, so it'd be the smart choice). Just hoping to find my feet first.

Please, save me from my frustration! :)

The blog I need help with is volitionary.wordpress.com.

  2. Yes, removing the RSS icon form the top navigation this theme iNove requires purchase of the annually renewable CSS upgrade. I used the forum searchbox. See here > http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/remove-large-rss-icon-from-inove-theme?replies=6

If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.

Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.
