Totally change a theme appearance with css

  • I have a general question. I’ve found a theme on another service that I really like.(lets call it theme “A”) I know that on WordPress.com you can (with the CSS upgrade) strip a theme of its CSS. Is it possible to copy the CSS from “theme A” and replace my current WordPress theme’s CSS with that? (thus making my WordPress theme look like theme A)
    Thanks

  • Hi there, CSS is theme specific and each designer decides how they will structure it and what they will name all the CSS classes and IDs.

What you would have to do is to create all the necessary CSS rules, using the classes and IDs in the WordPress.com theme to have it look like the other theme.

Also, if there is functionality in the other theme that is not present in the WordPress.com theme, CSS cannot be used to add that functionality. CSS is a styling document used by browsers to position and style the elements of a web page.

The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.

This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/

The forum at WordPress.ORG is not connected to WordPress.COM so you will need to open an account at .ORG if you do not already have one. You may use the same email at WordPress.ORG as you do at WordPress.COM.

If you are asking for help with a WordPress.COM site then we need a link to that site to give you accurate help.
