tracking blog readers

  1. There's got to be a more in depth way to track your readers instead of just seeing where they clicked from. Maybe by city or state? Can someone advise?

The blog I need help with is rachelkern.wordpress.com.

  2. Use 3rd party services like sitemeter, whos.amung.us, etc. may please you. Enter 'free+online+tracker' to Google search bar you'll be amazed!

  3. Three free real time tracking alternatives are found in this post http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2009/10/24/real-time-visitor-tracking-non-javascript-for-blogs/

  4. It's good to know where your blog readers are coming from - politically, economically & socially. This would provide a guide as to why certain posts or subjects of yours are more popular than others. P21chong

  5. Use Quantcast then. It has demographics.

  6. I found one from feedjit but the only problem is I don't know where to insert the HTML in my blog.. can someone pls help?

  7. @raincoaster, thanks for the tip. Quantcast is great! WordPress is automatically quantified by them, so all the data is right there already. Learned a bit about the demographics for my blog...

  8. Thanks everyone, appreciate the help!

  9. @aliaazlam
You simply place the feedjit HTML code into a text widget and place it in your sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
