Transfer domain brought from wordpress.com to godaddy wordpress?

  1. Can anyone guide me on how to transfer a domain brought from wordpress.com to wordpress on godaddy? I already brought a hosting account in godaddy.

The blog I need help with is foodofthought.com.

  2. Do you want to keep the management here and just use the domain name, or do you want to transfer the management over to GoDaddy as well?

  3. I would like to keep the management here and just use the domain name. (I believe transferring the domain over needs $ and further more the 60 days restriction etc., thus more troublesome)

  4. raincoaster, i really appreciate if you can help me, because i have spent alot of money "testing the water" already :(

  5. Well, I already gave you the links. You have to read them.

  6. thanks rain coaster, i have read through them and did transfer yesterday but my url is still not directed. (Maybe i just need wait longer?)
What im concern now is whether im doing it correctly.

I got another question just to make sure i was doing the right thing.

you know the part where i have to log in to wordpress "auttomatic" page? key in my details etc then enter the nameserver. According to my knowledge, godaddy's name server is "NS01.DOMAINCONTROL.COM and NS02.DOMAINCONTROL.COM". All i have to do is just enter on the auttomatic page and all i have to do now is to wait right?

But the question is, the godaddy's name server seems to be unique for everybody? then would my url knows where is my site hosted now? the mechanism behind this just seem so strange to me

  7. or rather, my question is, which part did i typed in the whole process that tells my url that my host is now is godaddy since the godaddy's name server is unique to everybody in godaddy? (i was expecting it to be some serialized code or smth).

  8. You need to wait for up to 72 hours for the DNS to settle down.

  9. anyway my webpage is "This page is parked free, courtesy of Automattic" is this normal -.-

  10. No, it's not. It's not yet connected to your other site. Does the blog exist yet?

  11. yes... i installed wordpress on it already

  12. help please?
