Transfer Fails?! I lost all my entries

  1. Hi, for those who have successfully transfered, how long did your transfer take ?

    I transferred this morning, but when i log back in, i didn't see any of my old posts....

    Is there anybody out there also have lost their posts from MSN live spaces when transferring to WordPress. ?

    The blog I need help with is beifirebird.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi beifirebird! Welcome to WordPress.com. :)

    The importers are cranking away within thousands of blogs coming in right now. Your content should be imported within 24 hours of you starting the migration process.

    If it's still not showing after 24 hours, please drop us a line in support and we'd be happy to investigate:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

    As for your content--don't worry. Microsoft has it thoroughly safe and we will certainly do what it takes to make sure it comes over.

  3. I follow the steps to transfer all my msn posts to wordpress, but no matter how many times i try to click the connect button to connect with the MSN live page, it doesn't works at all! i promised i typed in my correct ID and passwords, it just show me, no found the page !

    @yishuiha, I've tagged this thread for staff attention, but it would be best if you contacted them directly at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ . MS is not deleting anything, so your stuff can be recovered and transferred.

  5. I'll pass the thread onto staff as well if you don't hear from them in this thread then please proceed wit the link TSP, provided...

  6. I follow the steps to transfer all my msn posts to wordpress, but no matter how many times i try to click the connect button to connect with the MSN live page, it doesn't works at all! i promised i typed in my correct ID and passwords, it just show me, no found the page !

    Because you are unable to reach the Messenger Connect page when you attempt to make the transfer, we need to have Microsoft take a look at this. Your import on our side hasn't even begun.

    Have you attempted to contact the Windows Live Spaces support folks about this one?

  7. It's been 3 days. None of my stuff has trandferred. I did not blog but had all kinds of pics etc on MSNSpaces. Where is it all? I can't get to my old site now.

  8. Contact Support: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

    They should be able to retrieve your blog, there have been some transfers that have failed or hung up. The Staff is the only ones that have access to the areas required to address a failed transfer.

  9. Hello there,
    Staff have two sticky post at the top of the forum and as auxclass has siad you will need to contact them. There is nothing we Volunteers can do to gelp you. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/did-you-just-move-here-from-live-spaces-welcome?replies=1

    Please note that the following items do *NOT* come over in the import process:

    * Photos that were in albums but not within posts
    Photos that weren't used in posts are not part of the import process because they aren't actually part of the Windows Live Spaces blog. They are part of the Photos or Skydrive service. The photo albums from Skydrive are always accessible and aren't going anywhere. Anyone can find them at http://photos.live.com/.

    * Modules

    * Lists
    Please see here > http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/live-spaces-retrieving-your-lists?replies=1

    * Pending/draft posts
    Right now, the draft posts are trapped in limbo and WordPress.com Staff are communicating with Live Spaces about them.

  10. @stereosteveo: I've checked the status your import and your post has come over fine.

    As @timethief points out Photos were not included in the transfer process and can still be accessed from http://photos.live.com

  11. It says on spaces that the experience would be richer by msn partnering it to world's leading blogging site wordpress. Here on the other hand some how The world's leading blogging site's own staff has no clue what's going on and are guessing the reasons for failures instead of giving concrete replies.

  12. The same to me!
    I will follow it up

  13. @timethief Thanks. You stole my heart with that reply but the question remains that why aren't wordpress staff providing clear guidelines for transfers. I'm a professional services person and when I used to handle my customer my team used to have EUMP - End-Use Migration Plan that only focused on GUI mechanics. I don't think any of this planning has been done by WP or MSN. If they can't make an EUMP then tell me and I will make them or send a template over to them through which we ued to plan the activity. You ee at the end of the day no matter how much backend planning has been done, if it fails to satisfy the end-user; this won't fly. MSN will loose trust and WP existing users who also use Spaces will take have bad taste.

  14. MSN has built an entire business on dissatisfied customers who don't think they have any choice.

    Right now, Spaces users have two choices: to export to WP.com or to watch their blogs die in a few months. MSN apparently never provided a regular exporter. Once a blog is at WP.com you can just use the standard Export function that's built right in to export it and take it to Blogger or Tumblr or whereever you like.
