Transfer subscribers from .com to .org

  1. Can you please transfer my subscribers from curtainqueencreates.wordpress.com to curtainqueencreates.com, my self-hosted site? I have installed and activated the Jetpack plugin. Thank you for your help!

The blog I need help with is curtainqueencreates.wordpress.com.

  2. As you have installed and activated the JetPack plugin http://jetpack.me on your WordPress.org install, and posted the relevant URL(s) into this forum thread, Staff will do the transfer of subscribers and stats for you. I tagged this thread for their attention.

  3. Thank you very much. :-)

  4. Hi hoodmanor,

It does not appear that curtainqueencreates.com is currently connected to Jetpack from your hoodmanor user account. If you have Jetpack enabled, please disconnect it and reconnect it to the same user as curtainqueencreates.wordpress.com.

  5. Well, I probably messed up, but when I set up my .org account through my host, I used a different email address than when I set up the .com blog. My username was automatically assigned as the email, as well. When I imported my posts, I changed the author to my .org name. What do I need to do?

Jetpack is installed on curtainqueencreates.com, but it's all under a different username and password than I currently have at curtainqueencreates.wordpress.com.

  6. Hi again,

You will need to disconnect Jetpack from the site, and then log into WordPress.com as the correct user (hoodmanor) and reconnect Jetpack so it's connected to the correct account.

If you go to your site and find the Jetpack plugin (in the top left-hand side of your Dashboard) and click on it, you'll be brought to the Jetpack page. You can disconnect by going to the button on the right - when you hover over it, you'll get the option to disconnect:

  7. I understand how to disconnect Jetpack. But, I don't understand how to get to my .org site from my .com site through hoodmanor, because I can't get access to .org with hoodmanor. That account has a different username. Does that make sense.

I have an idea that might work. If I start a similar thread like this one through my .org site, can you "marry" the two accounts to do the transfer? What do you think?

  8. Another possibility is to tell me how to change my .org username to hoodmanor. I'd be happy to do that, but I haven't found a way to do it.
    Thanks!

  9. OK, figured it out. Jetpack is connected through hoodmanor. Whew!

  10. Hi hoodmanor,

Hooray! Glad you figured it out. Hopefully you realized you don't need to change your .org admin name or password to connect Jetpack - it's all within the plugin itself.

Your WordPress.com subscribers and email followers have been transferred as requested.

Please note that any WordPress.com followers who opted to receive email updates will need to re-subscribe again on your new site through the Jetpack signup box, otherwise they'll only see new posts in their Reader. Non-WordPress.com email subscribers will continue to get email updates.

You might think about setting up a Site Redirect for your WordPress.com site at curtainqueencreates.wordpress.com to send your site visitors to your new domain. Otherwise, people will still be able to subscribe on your old site.

  11. Thank you very much! :-)

  12. You're very welcome! I'm glad we were able to sort all of this out. :)

  13. Me, too. Timethief commented (early in thread) that subscribers and stats would be transported. Since my old site's stats aren't showing yet, is that something that you do separately? I would love it if you could arrange that.

    Thanks you. :-)

  14. Hi again,

I've just taken care of your stats for you as well. You should be all set!
