Transfer the site on my pc to my online site.

  1. I downloaded WordPress and have been modifying it with a child theme. When I started to upload the site to IXWebhosting I found out that they don't support WordPress 3.2.1 which is the version that I have.

I have somewhat of a commitment to get this site up sometime in November. One of the options that I am considering is upload at least the child theme files and the photographs, etc, to my online site. Can I do this? If not do you have some other suggestions.

The blog I need help with is tjmthisandthat.wordpress.com.

  2. Hello,

You'll need to ask this particular question on the WordPress.org Support Forums. This forum is only for blogs hosted on WordPress.com.

    Best of luck!

  3. No, I am dealing with wordpress.com. What I want to do is transfer my .org site to my .com site (will the .com site accept the work I have done)?

  4. You can export the content from your .ORG installation and import it into a site here, but you cannot use the theme you have created. At wordpress.COM, you can only use the 150+ themes listed in appearance > themes. We can modify the CSS for themes here, but since CSS is theme specific, you cannot use any CSS you have developed for a different theme on a site here. You also cannot edit the underlying theme PHP script files here.

Themes at wordpress.COM have to be modified to work within the restrictions here and to support the unique features. Themes straight off the internet (which are for self-hosted blogs) will not work here.

You can only use the theme you created on a self-hosted wordpress site.
