I am trying to transfer the blog I started on WordPress.com to be a WordPress.org blog. I've purchased a hosting solution (BlueHost) and uploaded the .org file to my ftp site. When I tried to have my domain (benjshap.com) forwarded from GoDaddy to BlueHost, they said Automattic owned the rights to the domain. I know automattic is related to WordPress but why can't I point the name servers for the domain I bought to Blue Host?

Visit the Upgrades/Domains tab of your dashboard. Click the Manage Your Domains tab at the bottom to get to your domain management tools. There you can set nameservers as instructed by BlueHost.
We don't own the rights to the domain, you do.
