trouble creating featured content, menu, and rt hand navigation on delicacy

  1. I've purchased the customization upgrade for Delicacy and am trying to get widgets to show up in the 2nd column navigation with no success. Also cannot get pages to show up in a menu. I'm referring to the wordpress tutorial documents and some screens in the doc don't match what i see (for example, can't see the attributes area of the "add page".
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

The blog I need help with is fearlesshomecooking.wordpress.com.

  2. Delicacy is two column; main content column (1) and right sidebar (2).

To have navigation in the right sidebar, you have to create a custom menu for that location, save it, and then go to appearance > widgets, put the custom menu widget into the sidebar and then from the pulldown in that widget, select the menu name you created to use in the sidebar.

To create a top navigation, you create the menu, save it, and then from the "theme location" pulldown, select the menu that you created for the top navigation location.

  3. Reference links to support pages on custom menus and menu widget:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/custom-menu-widget/

  4. Thanks for the help, but unfortunately I cannot get a custom menu to show up in the right sidebar, but was able to add a couple of other widgets.
Also, I couldn't create the top navigation. I've referred to both support docs but I can't get it to work.
    Any other ideas?

  5. Did you select the menu you created from the pulldown in the widget itself?

  6. I cannot get a custom menu to show up in the right sidebar, but was able to add a couple of other widgets.

I see you found it and added a custom menu titled "Fearless Acts of Cooking" to your sidebar. Nice work!

Also, I couldn't create the top navigation.

If you want to use separate menus, first make sure you have saved more than one menu on your Appearance → Menus page. Then go to the Appearance → Menus → Manage Locations tab, and make sure you've setup the one you want to use for the top navigation as the "Primary Menu."
