I already have a domain. When I select mapping for $12.00, I am sent to a screen which tells me to register my domain on wordpress for $17.00. Please help! I need to resolve this issue before 11:30 a.m.(CST) today.
The blog I need help with is jillianlark.wordpress.com.

Thanks for the help. Sorry, I'm new at this. I thought I had to pay for the mapping first, but it appears I have to do the mapping, wait until it takes affect, and then pay for it. Is that correct?
The mapping and payment are done at the same time (well on the same page) - you fill in all the blanks and at some point they ask for money.
It can also take 24 to 72 hours for things to completely settle down on the internet but changes usually start much sooner.

Hi, I am really confused about the mapping as well. I have my domain through go Daddy. I thought I had to go to them to have them change some configuration for the mapping to take effect. I am not sure where to even click to actually being the payment process. When it was posted that the mapping and payment are on the same page I am even more confused because a) I have no idea there that page is and b) don't I have to go through go daddy?

I did read that support page, but, while I may sound totally dense, I don't know where to go for the next step. Go daddy says I have to have already paid the WordPress mapping fee. What am I missing???
In order for me to know what "the next step" is, I need to know what you have done so far. Did you get to step 1?

Sort of...they say I have to have paid already. That is when I started trying to figure out who and how to pay.
When I get to that point, which one do I use NS1, NS2 NS3 ?
As the support document says, WordPress.com won't let you purchase the domain mapping upgrade until you change the nameservers at GoDaddy. You enter all three nameservers.
Thank you! I will go back to go daddy and try again. Once we change it there, it sounds as though I will be asked to pay something at that time. Although once the mapping is set up, I am sure that whomever wants my money will find me!
So, now that you are my WordPress guru, as an obvious newbie, is .com much easier to use than .org? My only concern is that I want as much growth potential as possible. I really don't want to spend a whole lot of energy developing one and than find that the other would be more suitable to my needs. I don't want to deal with switching. I am basically setting up an opinion blog, I want to be able to have subscribers and I want the possibility of embedding videos and possibly linking to other sites/videos as needed.
I had looked at squarespace, but I had a difficult time trying to deal with subscribers. Basically, I had to enter in the information for interested people, there wasn't an automatic way for people to subscribe themselves. I want that simple and seamless.
