Am trying to add a sidebar image of a world map and obviously did something wrong since the image itself doesn't show up. Can someone please advise me as to what needs changed for the image to actually show in my sidebar. If this particular image will not work is there somewhere I can go for an image of a world map that will work properly? Thank you for your time and assistance!!

If you are looking for a world map with stats for your blogs visitors, you might try
http://www.maploco.com/
Go to that site and copy the code they give you, then paste it into a text widget in your sidebar.
Or, if you have an world map image you want to use, the simplest non-tech way to add it to your sidebar is with a text widget. The sidebar width of your theme is 165. Open a draft post or page, and put your image in so it will fit your sidebar. Add your title and whatever other text info you want. Switch to the html editor, add a text widget to your sidebar, and copy the code from your draft post into the text widget. Voilá: a map in your sidebar.
