Trying to Import by Blogger blog to WordPress.com

Hey everyone, new WordPress user here (at least, I hope to be).

I’m trying to import my Blogger blog to WordPress.com.

I believe I’m doing it right—I have new Blogger, I’ve clicked on the button to authorize WordPress to get my Blogger content, and then I get to the page where I can click the “Import” button.

Here’s the problem: my Blogger blog has 195 posts and 730 comments, and I NEVER come CLOSE to getting them all (I’ve probably tried it 20 times). It will work for a while, importing some posts, and then it will just stop, and the “Set Authors” button will appear.

Sometimes I’ll get all the posts and no comments, sometimes I’ll get 3 posts, sometimes I’ll get no posts and some of the comments…but I can never get all of it and I can’t figure out why. It’s driving me nuts.

I really do want to switch over to WordPress, but I don’t want to do it if it means losing my old posts and comments.

Can anyone help me with this?

There is an issue with the Blogger import right now and we will fix it as soon as we can. In the meantime you can start blogging here and import when it all works.

One more question…how will I know when the issue has been resolved (I mean, other than just trying it over and over and over)?

Contact Support and we’ll send out a note when it’s all working. We keep a list of everyone affected who gets in touch.

Ok, my problem continuos. I try erasing last 10 post, and try import from blogger. But now can´t import and lost my older 10 post.

I have the same problem from a wordpress MU install. Is this a wordpress side issue or a blogger side issue? Please guide

I tried to import using a wordpress.com blog I have and only 60 or so posts get imported instead of all of them.

scsupport – this is NOT the wordpress MU forum. You need to ask that question over there.

gmattop – I don’t understand your question. Are you importing from Blogger to WordPress.COM?

hi vivian … I understand this is not a MU forum, what I meant was that I tried using both a local MU install and create a blog on wordpress.com and import from a blogger blog.

I created a new blog on wordpress.com went to import authorized blogger and then it go stuck at 60 posts rather than importing all 250 posts. I tried a couple of times more and it wont even import anything after those 60.

If you are trying to import to wordpress.COM, you may have to contact support on this.

Importing from Blogger hasn’t worked since late September. It is now November. Are you saying that WordPress STILL hasn’t fixed the problem? This is very frustrating. I received an email in September saying they would let me know when it was fixed, but no email has come from wordpress.

Can staff please give us an update?

I am having troubles as well. I just signed up yesterday for wordpress.com and was hoping to import all of my blogs from blogspot.com. When I go to Manage, Import, then Authorize, it tells me it cannot authorize at this time…something about not having access to blogger. I really like the look and feel of WordPress, but from the sound of it, the problem hasn’t been resolved in a couple of months. Should I just give up?

Hi:
This is my first time posting here. Sorry my grammar.
I have a singular problem. When I try to import from blogger, if my blog in blogger have, by example 30 post programming to publish in the future, only the first one is imported but the rest no. I try with all of my blogs and the same thing, even I create a new blog also in blogger and wordpres.com (a testing blog) and the same thing. This problem I found since 1 year ago (the time I have my account here) but I do not take so much importance until now because I like to migrate my blogs in blogger to here.
Anybody have an idea what the problem is?

I imported 1568 posts, including pictures, and over 1000 comments from Blogger this afternoon. What I found was that the process stalled from time to time (the counter stopped moving). When that happened, I’d click out of import then back in and hit “continue import” button. I got all posts over. Now I’m working on getting an automatic redirect from blogspot but that’s another issue.
