Trying to switch from wordpress.com to wordpress.org - HELP!

  1. I have a site set up and humming along... didn't know I couldn't do ads on a wordpress.com site, so I followed instructions and got a self hosted wordpress.org site. I'm trying to transfer over EVERYTHING into my new theme/site and when I follow the instructions Tools-export, Tools-import, etc. it tells me that my file is too large and it gives me an error. How in the heck do I tranfer over everthing smoothly into this theme I paid for (twice now!)!?! I'd love to be able to have all of my content, comments, past posts, etc - is this possible?! Holy cow... what a pain. I can't get a Guided Transfer because they are always "sold out" and I don't think I can with a "premium" theme. Anyone out there that can help me?! Thank you in advance!

The blog I need help with is niagarahub.com.

  2. it tells me that my file is too large and it gives me an error.

have you tried creating smalle export files and importing them sequentially until you have all the content imported?

How in the heck do I tranfer over everthing smoothly into this theme I paid for (twice now!)!?

Note: Premium Themes are customized for WordPress.com usage only, and cannot be transferred to self-hosted WordPress.org sites. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/premium-themes/#how-to-get-a-premium-theme

  3. Thanks for replying - the theme I bought is the same exact style as the .com one, so it is totally compatible. I just don't know how to get all of my data over to it... how would I import/export smaller files? How would I break them up?!

    Thanks again for any/all help!
