My public gravatar is realitydoug. I never asked for it. I followed a link and now seem to have it and it is obtrusive. I do NOT want my gravatar name or url overwriting textboxes when I am trying to post comments my way! Please remove my public gravatar 'cause I don't want it! How do I avoid this now and in the future?
The blog I need help with is realitydoug.wordpress.com.
WordPress.com and Gravatar are both owned by Automattic.
Creating a username account here and completing the information in the About your section here on your blog > Dashboard > Users > My Profile creates one at Gravatar too. Removing it removes it form both locations.
While you cannot completely delete your Gravatar profile, you can remove all of your profile information easily through the "Edit My Profile" page here: http://en.gravatar.com/profiles/edit/?noclose#about-you
You can also hide your Gravatar profile from external access. Visit your profile page (click your name in the top navigation of the website), then click the "Hide My Profile" link in the bottom, right-hand corner. http://en.gravatar.com/realitydoug

I have never experienced this. Please take a screenshot, title it gravatarissue and upload it to your Media library for Staff to examine. Then subscribe to this thread so you are notified when Staff have examined it there and have responded here.
Timethief has given you some good resources for hiding your Gravatar information. If you still need further help with this, just let us know.
I'm not sure what you mean by "overwriting textboxes" so if you could upload a screenshot as timethief mentions, I'd be glad to take a look.
Thanks for response! I have experimented and see that I can work around getting the fields filled (and refilled) if I don't click into the email textbox while the other two boxes are empty. I uploaded an explanatory picture into my media library named gravatarissue.png. I enjoy using wordpress. I got a bit frustrated when I kept getting unwanted content since I did not understand how to work around. Might have cleared bottom two textboxes and then clicked into the top one only to have the content reappear.

When you're not logged in, it looks like your browser is remembering the last information you filled out on a WordPress comment form and re-entering it automatically.
Could you please try these two things:
1. Clearing your browser's cache and cookies

2. Clearing your browser's auto-fill form history. Here are the instructions for Firefox:
- On the menu bar, click on the Tools menu, and select Clear Recent History....
- In the Time Range to clear: drop-down, select Everything.
- Click the arrow next to Details to display the list of items that can be cleared.
- Make sure only Form & Search History is check marked.
- Click Clear Now. The dialog box will disappear and your form history will be erased.
When you are logged in, you can change the display name that WordPress picks up. Just head over to Users > My Profile and change the text in "Display name publicly as" from "realitydoug" to "Reality Doug" (or whatever you like).

Thanks, timethief and kathrynwp. I use Firefox in private mode, which deletes cookies and history after each session. I can't figure out how the forms are being filled. I checked whether or not being logged into gmail makes a difference; doesn't. I don't see where I can delete form info, but I never entered that info into said fields. I noticed this after I clicked in my wordpress admin area or help area and checked out gravatar. I made the change so that I get the username I want when logged into wordpress. I wonder if I can opt out of gravatar. I don't want to set up a gravatar account to turn it off. Seems I have some public stub or something. I choose to not be compelled to comply that way and live with the way it is. When I am not logged into wordpress, I should not fill in the email until I've filled in name or url below it. OK. No need to worry about this further from my end unless others are getting similar behavior. Computers are funny. It's easy to falsely attribute cause to coincidence.

A WordPress.com account and a Gravatar account are actually the same thing - your WordPress.com username is automatically your Gravatar username.
