Twenty Eleven: CSS Code to Remove Recent Posts from Home Page

  1. Hi There,

Would someone be kind enough to give me the CSS code to prevent recent posts from appearing on my Home page?

    My Site: http://vpvideoproductions.com/

Thanks so much for any help you can provide!

    Laura

The blog I need help with is vpvideoproductions.com.

  2. You have set that page to use the "showcase" template.
Change it to be a page with "default" or "sidebar" template.

No CSS needed in this case…

  3. That does indeed work. But it's not quite the look I want. Is there any way I can keep the "showcase" template without having recent posts on the page?

Thanks so much for your help!

  4. I don't believe you can.

CSS might be a way, though I doubt it: Cascading Style Sheets affect only the appearance and not the function of a site. The "showcase" template is part of the way Twenty Eleven functions.

But perhaps someone with CSS wizardry could think of a way to make it work, unlikely as it appears to me…

  5. @Tess: Changing the appearance includes hiding an element, so removing the Recent Posts section is quite possible - very easy, in fact.

@Laura: But I don't see why you're interested in this instead of following Tess's suggestion. The only other differences between a showcase template page and a default template page are the featured posts slider and the showcase sidebar: you're using none of the two, so I don't get your "not quite the look I want".

  6. Tess, Thanks for all your help! It turns out your suggestion is the answer for me.

Justpi, I didn't like the large "Home" graphic on the page when it was set to "default." You got me thinking with your reply, and I just went in and removed it. I guess I wasn't seeing the forest for the trees, at that point!

Thanks so much to you both!! Problem solved! : )

  7. @justpi: I am interested in following up with your comment about the 'ease of hiding the recent post section of the showcase template.' For a variety of reasons, I like the showcase template much better than the sidebar or default template. Can you share the code with me that would accomplish this?

I have CSS enabled on my site micjammac.com.

  8. @Laura: you're welcome, and sorry, no. See the reply I just posted here:
