Twenty Eleven Menu--change colour, get rid of "search" option

  1. I'm working with the Twenty Eleven theme, I'd like to get rid of the search bar in the menu/header at the topic of the page (as I plan to use a widget in the sidebar instead) and I would love to change the colour of that same menu bar from black to brown. ANY help with this would be great. Thank you!

  2. We have only one Volunteer at this time who helps with CSS editing and he answered you here http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/menu-bar-changes-color-when-i-try-to-edit-css?replies=4#post-650764

  3. Sorry, I missed the search bar part of the question. This will hide it for you.

    #branding #searchform {
    display: none;
    }
  4. Thank you!

    I have two more questions, I really appreciate your patience and help in this.

    When I put in the code that you gave me to hide the search bar, I was hoping that my tabs on the custom menu header I set up would move into that space to fill it. Is that possible? Can I do that, and if so, how?

    And the other thing is, all of my content has become justified to the right hand side of the page. I'm not sure where to find this issue in the CSS and not sure how to fix it even if I could find it. Can you help me with that?

    Thanks again so much for all of your help the past two days!!

  5. Since your site is set to private it makes it a little difficult to help since I can't look at your CSS or see what else you have done to the CSS. Can you make it public so that I can look, or add me as a user at settings > privacy so I can view it?

  6. Sorry! It should be public now.

  7. Add the following to your CSS. Since you have so many menu entries, there really isn't any way to have them all on one line unless we seriously crowded them, but this takes it to two lines.

    #access div {
    padding-right: 0 !important;
    margin: margin: 0 5% !important;
    }
  8. Are you by chance wanting to recover the white space to the right of the sidebar and add that to the content area?

  9. Assuming that is what you are talking about, the below will fix that.

    #main {
    width: 1000px;
    }
  10. The other thing to remember is that the theme you are using is semi-flexible width (it has a 1000px max width and will narrow automatically at any browser window setting narrower than that, so the menu is going to change and flow depending on the browser window width. Narrow and widen your browser window to see how that works.

  11. Thank you so much! Both of those additional codes were perfect. I really appreciate all of your help!

  12. You are welcome.
