Hi. A user on the French forums using the French version of Twenty Eleven has advised that the archives display the incorrect number of photos in the gallery. For example, http://scrapdesvignes.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/ says:
Cette galerie contient 1 photo.
(When in fact the gallery in question contains 2)
Any idea if this is a bug with the translation string in French or a problem with the theme?

None of the two.
When you select the Gallery post format, the tab will indicate how many images are attached to this post (that is, as you know, how many images have been uploaded via the Add an Image tool of that post). The number of images actually displayed in the post doesn't have to coincide with that. The sourcecode of that particular post shows two individually inserted images, not a gallery of two images.
