Twenty Eleven Sidebar not shown on all pages

    Hi,
When I activated the new Twenty Eleven theme I noticed that the sidebar is only visible on the home page. Is it possible to have the sidebar on all pages? I reverted back to my original theme when I saw this, but I would like to use Twenty Eleven if I can get the sidebar on all pages

    Thanks so much!

  2. That's correct behavior for the theme. Please consult this > http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/twentyeleven/ and the other threads previously posted on this theme > http://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/twenty-eleven

  3. If you wish to have a sidebar on all pages then you will require CSS editing skills, purchase of an annually renewable CSS upgrade, and you must do the work yourself. If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

Twenty Eleven won't display the sidebar when you view a single post, but it can display it on static pages if you edit them and select the sidebar template (page editor > Page Attributes module > Template pulldown).

  5. @TT, the CSS upgrade cannot be used to add a sidebar to pages which do not have one already. That would require hacking of the underling PHP script files, which we cannot do.

    :-)

  6. shannonmodrell, If you have chosen a layout under your Theme Options with content on the left or right, you can have a sidebar on all pages. There is a section under the blue Publish button, on the right side of the editing page titled 'Format' - choose 'standard' to have a sidebar on the page you're adding or editing.

Yo! Thanks so much for telling me that. I will bookmark now. :)

  8. @TSP
Actually that makes perfect sense to me now that I think about it.

  9. @shannonmodrell, I was mistaken about how to put the sidebar on all pages, my response works for new or edited posts, but not pages. Sorry!

panaghiotisadam is correct about choosing the sidebar template under Page Attributes for static pages, I just realized this when editing a page this evening.
