Twenty Eleven Sidebar not visible

I've been using Twenty Eleven since it was released as it is as close to what I want as I can find.

However I've just realised when looking at it (loneswimmer.com) that the sidebar widgets are not visible at the right hand side of the page as they were previously.

If I try to scroll to the bottom they appear just before the next page loads, then reload to the bottom of the page again, and therefore always are always "out of reach" so to speak.

Sidebar links, very important for reference on my blog, should always be at the TOP of the page.

How can I fix this, if anyone has any suggestions, much appreciated.

The blog I need help with is loneswimmer.com.

  2. Hi there,
On Twenty Eleven there is no sidebar on single posts. Also note that it's responsive width theme. This means the the layout adapts depending on the size of the device you use to view your site and also means it displays sidebars below the post content when viewed on smaller screens.

Staff have been introducing “infinite scroll" to themes — a site wide change that will be applied to all themes that are suitable for the implementation. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/to-infinity?replies=137

Disabling" the infinite scroll feature to get rid of the pop-up in the footer results in a "Load More Posts" tab, and you can't disable that "Load More Posts" tab from appearing and have "previous post" and "next post" links, without the Custom Design upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

  3. I truned off my AdBlocker and at the top of you sidebar here http://loneswimmer.com/ There is a large advertisement the length of which is longer than the text found in this post > MIMS 2012 – Part 2 – Race day

    Thanks.

Switching off infinite scroll does allow the sidebar to be accessible but still forces it to the page bottom, when there is lot of whitespace above it (even if the ad is only moderate length). 'll have to think about a page redesign or to add a static menu and category page from the menubar.

  5. I have witnessed two ads on your blog now. Both have been lengthy and placed at the very top of the sidebar. The trouble with advertizers is they want their ads placed above the fold and at the top of sidebars ie. in the exact location that most of us want to place navigation aides for our vistors. When you add infinite scroll and responsive width properties to that mix you are compelled to use the custom menu and to hope your visitors will locate and use the aides you include as items in your custom menu. You're welcome.
