Twenty Ten questions

  1. Hello again! I am also trying out the Twenty Ten theme and have a few questions (but if you go to my blog right now you might find Under the Influence as I earlier posted a q about that):

    1. Can I change the Twenty Ten post font to Arial, Lucida Grande, Verdana, or another sans serif font? What CSS would I use for that?

    2. Can I make the Twenty Ten post font smaller too?

    3. Is there any way to make the entire theme narrower or is the width of blog, post, sidebar, and header locked in?

    4. Do you think there will be a way to have both a footer and infinity scrolling or are the two mutually exclusive?

    Thanks!

    The blog I need help with is wildflwr.wordpress.com.

  2. I used the Twenty Ten demo site to check out how it works.

    1. Can I change the Twenty Ten post font to Arial, Lucida Grande, Verdana, or another sans serif font? What CSS would I use for that?

    First, I'd recommend checking out the Appearance → Custom Design → Fonts page to see if there's something there that will work for you.

    If you'd prefer to change to something like a font stack instead, what I would recommend doing is looking at the original stylesheet for Twenty Ten and finding the Fonts section. There are 5 blocks of CSS which set different font stacks. See https://s-ssl.wordpress.com/wp-content/themes/pub/twentyten/style.css?m=1327698033g&minify=false

    So to change the main fonts for the content areas and body to the list of fonts you suggested, you would add this CSS:

    body, input, textarea, .page-title span, .pingback a.url {
      font-family: Arial, Lucida Grande, Verdana, sans-serif;
    }
  3. 2. Can I make the Twenty Ten post font smaller too?

    To change the font size inside posts on Twenty Ten to be smaller, try this:

    #content, #content input, #content textarea {
      font-size: 14px;
    }

    Adjust the number as needed.

  4. 3. Is there any way to make the entire theme narrower or is the width of blog, post, sidebar, and header locked in?

    You can change the width of Twenty Ten. here is an example:

    #branding img, #access, #access .menu-header, div.menu, #colophon, #branding, #main, #wrapper {
      width: 800px;
    }
    #site-title {
      width: 74%;
    }
    #site-description {
      width: 24%;
    }
    #branding img {
      display: none;
    }
    .home-link {
      display: block;
      width: 800px;
      height: 248px;
      background: url(YOUR_IMG_URL) no-repeat left 50px;
    }

    You will need to upload an image the size that you want to your media library, and then replace YOUR_IMG_URL with the image URL of the image you uploaded.

  5. 4. Do you think there will be a way to have both a footer and infinity scrolling or are the two mutually exclusive?

    Right now, footer widgets and infinite scrolling are separate. But who knows, maybe WordPress.com developers will find a way to make them work better together in the future.

  6. Thank you so much for all this Designsimply! You support guys really rock!

  7. Cheers :)
