Twenty ten Side Bar

  1. I would like to remove the side bar on the twenty ten theme that I am using. I have the upgrade but am still now sure how to start changing the ccs even after looking at some of the tutorials. Do I copy the original ccs for twenty ten then delete the part detailing the sidebar?

    The blog I need help with is equestrianphilosophy.wordpress.com.

  2. I don't help with CSS but there is Staff support for the upgrade and either Staff or another Volunteer will help you with your CSS Editing. I do know that when you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing.

    Did you know that in Twenty Ten, you can set static pages to have no sidebar? You open the post in the editor and in the Page attributes module, you select "no-sidebar" from the Page Template dropdown. This gets rid of the sidebar and centers the content, but does not make the content any wider.

  3. Don't paste the entire stylesheet into the edit window. What you want to do is to add only the specific selectors and declarations you are adding or changing. You are not editing the original stylesheet, you are adding stuff that will override things in the original stylesheet. The following should get rid of the sidebar and then recover that space for the content area.

    Delete the informational text from the CSS edit window and paste the following in there.

    #primary {
    display: none;
    }

    #content {
    margin-right: 20px;
    }
