Twenty Ten Theme Custom Header Issues

  1. I'm trying to upload a custom header into my 2010 Theme. The white space in the image turns black and the image's resolution has decreased. From what I understand:

    1) To resolve the black background issue I will have to go through the "back end" and alter the css sript, which also means I have to upgrade to the css.

    2) To solve the resolution issue I will have to have the image resized to the exact dimensions of the 2010 header. (I've tried to do this with the MAC OS application preview, but the image gets worse when I (re-size).

The image in question is a pgn image created by a professional. Perhaps I will have to get the same professional to resize?

    Please advise.

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is matraent.wordpress.com.

  2. In the blog linked to your username you're using Parament, not 2010. Did you switch theme or are you talking about a different blog?

Before we answer your questions, please go to Media > Add New, upload the image and give us its URL so we can check it.

  3. Thank you so much for your response. Yes- in a whim of experimentation I did switch the theme.

I hope this was the url you asked for:

  4. No CSS upgrade/editing needed. Your image simply needs to be resized in an image editing application such as Photoshop. It's a transparent png, but when it's cropped, the version created by the cropper produces a jpg (no transparency). If the image is in the right dimensions, there will be no black. You can test this by copying and uploading this example (resized for Twenty Ten):
