Twenty Thirteen - Comment Field Under the Sidebar

  1. With the Twenty Thirteen theme, I am noticing the comment field flowing under the sidebar (Secondary Widget Area) with Safari and Chrome browsers. The field displays correctly with Firefox. Any ideas about this?

The blog I need help with is lon.net.

  2. What version of Firefox are you using? I'm using FF 22 and the entire comment box, including the text input area, runs under the sidebar. In Chrome, the text input area is corralled on the left. Only the shading goes under the sidebar.

Regardless, I've tagged this for Staff assistance. Please subscribe so that you'll see their reply.

  3. I just tested Firebox v22 and Internet Explorer on Windows and they both have the comment text field under the sidebar issue. Chrome version 28.0.1500.95 on OS X also has the issue for me.

OS X Firefox v22 appears to be working OK.

  4. Ah, thank you. Neglected to note that both the screenshots I made were done on a PC in Win7 Pro SP1. No access here to a Mac or OS anything, but I'm sure one of the Happiness Engineers or a Theme Team member will have. :)

  5. With more testing, I see that OS X Firefox v22 only works for me when I am logged onto WordPress.com, with the black bar displayed above the site (the one with following, like, site views, new post, etc.). When I am logged out of wordpress.com and no black bar above, the text input field goes under the sidebar using Firefox on OS X. Safari behaves the same way, so perhaps the text input field only displays correctly when logged into wordpress.com?

  6. Thanks for the additional information.

Since this thread has been tagged for Staff input, we'll just have to be patient and wait for their reply. Since it is the weekend, it may take a little bit longer than usual.

  7. Hi loncooper,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I'm not seeing the comment field showing up as you describe now in Firefox, Safari or Chrome for the Mac. Has the issue been resolved for you or is it still occurring for you?

If so, you might try clearing your browser cache to make sure you're loading a fresh version of your site:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

Please let me know if the problem persists, and if you can, a screenshot would be helpful:

You can upload it to your media library for me to see.

  8. I'm still seeing the issue here, just like the screen captures justjennifer posted for FF22. It appears to only happen when you are not logged into wordpress.com (no black bar showing) and the problem is the "Leave a reply...enter your comment here field" is under the sidebar. You can see the issue on this page:
    http://lon.net/2013/07/27/mount-san-miguel-4/

  9. Screenshot has been uploaded to my media library.

  10. loncooper,

Okay, I can see that when logged out now. I'll let our theme folks know and hopefully they can resolve this quickly for you.

  11. Hi loncooper,

Wow, that turned into a sneaky little glitch in a couple of themes. Our theme folks jumped on it and fixed things up, so I believe your blog comments box will display properly now. You may need to clear your browser cache to see the updates.

Thank you for letting us know!

  12. While the display of the bottom of the page is not exactly 1:1 between Chrome 28 and FF23, the text input box is no longer displaying under the sidebar like it was previously in FF.

  13. Everything displays correctly now. Thanks

  14. Hi loncooper,

    That's great to hear. :)
