I switched to TwentyEleven right after previewing it, and right away began to have problems I've not encountered before with WordPress, including incredibly slow loading pages.
When editing or writing a new post, everything moves in slow motion, it becomes a pain to have to post or make any changes. As others have mentioned, typing, deleting a word, etc. has a lag time, even in the Twitter edit area. Also, when choosing the 'update' or 'publish' button it takes forever to get the page to reload. I can go visit other sites (or sit there and tell it to "come on!") while waiting for my post or editing to be available. My default posting format is 'standard', but the one time I experimented with using the 'image' choice, then wanted to change it back, I had to completely start over with a new post to get the 'standard' format again. Reloading the page, clearing cache, etc. did not work. I don't dare experiment with any other format, if it means having to completely start over if I don't like it.
After I finally got new & edited posts published and scrolled through my blog to check everything out, I noticed something weird had happened with all my posted images that had captions. The image was surrounded by a gray border, with the caption text under the image in a larger gray block. In html mode the gray block with the text is a separate image, and is left there when the image is removed. Instead of one image, it's two images, with the gray block/border and caption as the image background. I spent this morning removing the captions from all my images, then editing those posts. With the slowness I described above, it was not a happy experience! Since the images looked so tacky with the gray border and background square, I fixed all of them except the one from Wikipedia to leave an example of how they all looked before. Before changing to TwentyEleven the images had no border, and the captions were text on the white background, like all the other text.
The other thing I noticed from Day 1 of activating TwentyEleven is that the 'comment' square that appears beside the post title is also has a gray background, and has text in it that I cannot figure out how to remove. It looks like the text is part of the post title, from what shows up.
I hope there are no spelling errors, I get an error message when trying to use 'Check Spelling' here.
No hardware or software changes have been made on my computer, the only change is switching to TwentyEleven from Pilcrow.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
The blog I need help with is learning2hear.wordpress.com.
