Unable to delete blog

  1. Hi, I have just tried to delete one of my blogs, this one at http://liondove.wordpress.com/ rather than delete it, I have just been locked out of it; please can you complete the deletion; I did receive the email and clicked through the link; thanks :)

  2. You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog's dashboard.

Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden

If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
    follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility

If you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
and if required click the "Need More Help" link and complete the form for account recovery.

  3. After you recover that account you ought to be able to delete that blog. To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog to delete the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

Alternatively, to change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content and deleting blogs does not remove any indexed content from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 - 6 months.

  4. Sorry this is not helpful. I was logged in and I was using that blog when I decided to delete it, I recieved the delecte blog email and clicked through, the blog then sdaid it was deleted, but it has not deleted merely locked me out. Also go to my trophies page and you will see that the blog is mine.

    P.S. Happy holidays!

  6. NOTE: You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog's dashboard.

  7. I was and am logged in user the one and only admin user name that have ever had.

  8. Thanks for confirming that for Staff. Oftentimes we find that is the issue so that's why I posted what I did above.

  9. thank you. it worked.

  10. @louisgaudry
Are you also the owner of the username account dovesgold?

  11. also?? I only have the one dovesgold account; how can someone else also have the same account? :(

Could you let staff know that I have just provided proof that it's my blog; I've put it in my image library at my main blog here - http://throughleavesandsnow.wordpress.com/

I am stressed about this, al I did was delete the blog, there must be a glitch somewhere.

  12. @dovesgold
Please don't be stressed out. I believe louisgaudry posted into the wrong threads and simply asked that question to be clear on the details for Staff.

Staff deal with threads tagged for their attention in datestamp and timestamp order. Every time this thread is posted to that timestamp moves forward. It's in your best interest to wait patiently without posting into the thread again.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content does not remove it from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 - 6 months.

  13. Hi there!

Looking at your site http://liondove.wordpress.com/ your username has been removed as a user, rather than the site being deleted. That was why you could not log in.

So I have deleted that for you as you can see: http://liondove.wordpress.com/

The site has now been removed.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

  14. Hi, thankyou yes I thought there had been a glitch, I have the delete blog email not delete user. Thankyou for deleting it for me, appreciated :)

  15. I have a main blog, "Bizigal" which I do not want to delete. I made another blog under "momalotland" then decided I wanted to change the blog address of "momalotland" to "specialedteens". (I do not want to change or do anything with "Bizigal".) I changed the address from "momalotland" to "specialedteens". But now, I have my original practice blog showing up under "momalotland". There is no information or posts or pages. I havent done anything with it at all. I want to delete "momalotland" but with all the warnings, I am afraid I will delete "specialedteens" or "bizigal" blogs. I only need 2 blogs but it seems like I have 3.

  16. Hi there bizigal!

I have removed momalotland.wordpress.com for you. Your other two sites are not affected, http://bizigal.wordpress.com/ and http://specialedteens.wordpress.com/ still work as they did previously.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

  17. Hi Joel,
How cool is that!? I didn't sleep a wink last night. I had visions of a reader pulling up my blogging experiment! :)
Thank you so much. Happy New Year!

  18. Happy New Year to you too!
