Unattaching images from a page?

  1. How do I unattach an image from one page and re-attach it to another?
    Blog url: http://scoxartwork.wordpress.com/

  2. No, that only addresses photos that are unattached and how to attach them. I'm trying to unattach assigned photos and reattach them to a seperate page.

  3. Here's an example of an attached image URL on my blog:
    <a href="http://onecoolsite.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/redquestionmark.png"><img class="size-full wp-image-12824 alignleft" title="redquestionmark" src="http://onecoolsite.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/redquestionmark.png" alt="red question mark" width="150" height="150" /></a>

    Now here's an example of the same unattached image URL:
    <img class="size-full wp-image-12824 alignleft" title="redquestionmark" src="http://onecoolsite.files.wordpress.com/2011/07/redquestionmark.png" alt="red question mark" width="150" height="150" />

  4. Thanks for your response. Is your solution to alter the code for each image I want to change?

  5. I have never been into coding so I don't have an elegant or correct answer. I simply provided what I do when I don't want attached images and it works for me. I'm pretty sure justpi will show up and post into this thread. He's into coding. ;)

  6. The two codes above have nothing to do with attached or unattached images. The first code is the code for an inserted image that links to the real size original alone when clicked, the second one is the code for a non-clickable image.
    "Attached" to a post/page means originally uploaded via the Add Media tool of that post/page or subsequently associated with it. You cannot unattach an attached image.

  7. ok, cannot unattach an image. So how do I get images in my media Library (which is currently attached) from one page to another w/o losing all the edit/description/etc. data?

  8. @justpi
    Thanks so much for the clarity. Bookmarked!

  9. @solidventur: For what purpose exactly?

  10. The images on my website are in categories that change over time so I need to transfer the images from one page to another.

    In the end my solution was to delete and reload, not very clean but it worked.

  11. "Transfer the images from one page to another" is the same as "get images […] from one page to another"! When I said "what purpose exactly", I expected something more specific. For instance, if you wanted to insert the images as a group of individual images, that's easy and it doesn't require attached images. But (after visiting your pages) I understand that what you're interested in is displaying the images as a slideshow. So yes, for the WP slideshow to work you have to re-upload the images via the Add Media tool of the new page - no other solution.

  12. Hey, thanks for the clarification and your help!
