Unauthorized Advertising Links on my Blog

    Today, whien I logged on my blog, I found a number of words and phrases linked to advertisers. I did not authorize those links and do not want my blog displaying those hyperlinks in the text of my posts that display a popup of some advertiser.

    Please look into this and tell me how to stop it!

    Fix your browser - WordPress.COM does not have any text linked ads

    same here, embedded advertising on my content.... I will move pretty quick if this is new.

    Search "text enhance" on this board .....

    Then scroll down to Relevant Topics and check some of those threads.

    The word linked ads are in your browser not your blog - WordPress.COM does have ads on blogs (that is how they give you a "free" blog) unless you buy the no ads upgrades - but they ads are clearly marked and are not linked from words on your blog

    That may be so and I'll check my plug-ins. But if WordPress.com does imbed advertising links in my content without my express permission, free or not, I will be somewhat miffed.

    These ads are actually links attached to specific words in my blog.

    I'll wait to hear more from other subscribers before I advise my readers the ads are NOT my doing.

    Your readers won't see text enhanced links unless they have problems with their browsers.

    WP does insert ads, but usually only at the bottom of the page, never within posts.

    Thanks very much, Notawoodpecker, for your feedback. I expect it might have something to do with illicit adware that has gotten past the Norton.

    I'm very glad to be getting inputs that WP does not play such games with users. I can live with an ad at the bottom but not with hyperlinks in the text of my articles that bring up ads that I have no control over and from which I don't get at least part of the revenues ;).

    Looking forward to more comments!
