Uneven Spacing in Book Lite Header Navigation Bar

  1. When I use the Book Lite theme on my blog, the text/bullets in the header's navigation area are all evenly spaced (about 5mm between the bullets and the text on either side) except the farthest one to the right. The last piece of text on the right sits just over 6mm to the right of the last bullet, leaving that bullet off-center between the text on either side of it. This might sound like a minimal difference, but the theme is so clean it's very noticeable.

The blog I've been trying it on is http://grayherndon.wordpress.com, but I find the same to be true at http://booklitedemo.wordpress.com/ and at the blogs WordPress provides as examples of the theme here: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/book-lite/ .

I've shown the same links to a couple of people: one saw the same thing I did, the other didn't (and indeed, in the smaller image of WordPress's demo page shown at that last link, the spacing appears fine). So I don't know if this is actually a problem with WordPress/Book Lite, but it doesn't seem to be just my computer, either.

The blog I need help with is grayherndon.wordpress.com.

  2. From what I can tell, it's an issue with how the browser interprets the code. On Chrome and Internet Explorer the link on the right looks like it is evenly spaced, but on Firefox it is slightly offset to the right. (I think it has to do with how Firefox interprets the CSS content property, but I'm not 100% positive.)

  3. This thread will be moved to the Themes Forum where Themes Staff will address this issue.

  4. Thanks timethief, this was just where it landed when I filled out the "contact" form.

And thanks, expattranslator, you have of course hit on the problem. I should have mentioned what browser I was using (Firefox) and asked others what they were using. Another friend has just gotten back to me and confirmed that it looks fine in Chrome, though for her in IE the spacing is correct but an extra bullet is added on the right.

Unfortunately I'm afraid this probably means there's nothing to be done about it.

    How annoying.

  5. Hi there,

Thank you for the report. This issue should be fixed now. Expattranslator was correct in noting that the issue was browser-specific for Firefox users. The changes may require you to clear your browser cache.

Please let us know if you don't see the issue corrected.

    Thanks again!
