I tried following one of my blogs on the other blog. (I really wanted to link the two together and I thought this was the way to do it). Anyway, now I need to UNFOLLOW the 6 bazillion similar ones. (NOT that I don't love my blogging community...just want to simplify) Any ideas how to unfollow blogs?
The blog I need help with is barbcollinsbooks.wordpress.com.
You go here to locate the blogs you are following:
http://wordpress.com/#!/read/following/
You click "edit list"
http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/
All the blog you follow are on the page that opens.
To "unfollow" any blog simply click the "x" next to the Blog Title link
here's anoth way you can do this by visiting blogs you want to "unfollow" > http://en.support.wordpress.com/following/#unfollow-a-blog

Also, do you know how the shortlinks work ? They link posts and pages together? or just posts to posts and pages to pages? Will I see something folks can click on?
Which shortlinks are you referring to please? If you are asking do the ones provided by WordPress.com operate correctly the answer is yes. The only time I use them is on Twitter.
Yes, I am such a newbie. Hope I'm not asking too many dumb questions!! I see the icon to add a link and I see the Get shortlink button...but then what?
Repeatedly clicking grey star to unfollow a blog, star turns red, then disappears. But, when I reload the blogs I want to stop following are still listed.

That's odd and I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. Please be patient while waiting for a response.
@seafringededge: I am wondering whether you are clicking the "Like" button (which has a "star" icon) rather than the "Follow/Unfollow" button (which is marked with a "+/-" icon). To unfollow a blog, you'll need to click on "Following/Unfollow".
No Jenia, but thanks. In 'reader' there's an edit list link which brings up all the blogs being followed, and next to the blog name is a grey star which you click to stop following, it then turns red, then the blog disappears from the list, exactly as intended I think, however this action doesn't seem to get saved because the next time the blogs you've clicked to stop following have reappeared again. I've noticed that there are other people reporting that Reader isn't working. I can't find what you refer to, I've been taking the route as described above. Also, the blogs I want to stop following are mainly on Google's Blogspot, but nopt all. Frustration is getting to me ...
Ah, icons confusion, what you are referring to as a star I'm thinking of as an X. Sorry about that!
I've emailed you to find out more details about your browser and which blogs you'd like to unfollow, please respond to that email so that I can resolve it for you.
