Unused blog hogging URL?

  1. Hiya.
    I have a blog, currently at http://www.hotmilkandhoney.wordpress.com.
However, I want to change this. I have the perfect name and I know how, there's just one problem - the domain is taken. Normally I wouldn't mind, but the blog at the domain I want has not been edited in 7 years and has no posts or anything. Is it possible to get wordpress to delete the blog, so I may have the domain? The URL in question is at http://www.butterscotch.wordpress.com
    Many thanks,
    Anna

The blog I need help with is hotmilkandhoney.wordpress.com.

  2. There is no expiration date on blogs unused or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog then there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

if you are not successful, you can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

  3. I can't afford to buy domain mapping, and there is no contact information :c

  4. Then that's too bad an so sad. You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  5. You left a comment on the blog and that is all you can do

However you ask the owner to DELETE the blog so you can have it - THAT IS NOT THE THING TO DO - DON'T NOT EVER - once a blog name is deleted it is gone forever even from the original owner - so you might want to leave a follow up comment and ask them if they would consider transferring it to you

  6. Ok thank you :)
