unwanted links highlighted in my post text

  1. How do I turn-off the unwanted hyperlinks that are showing up in my post's text?
I'm using WordPress.com, by the way.

The blog I need help with is writingsmart.wordpress.com.

  2. This appears to be the most recent post on the blog linked to your username:
Invitation to my Flickr! page Posted on August 31, 2011 and there are no active links in it at all. If you mean another post in that blog or another blog then we need and active link starting with http:// to the post in question please.

  3. Hi timethief,

    Thanks for the swift reply.

I manually broke the unwanted links in my writingsmart.wordpresss.com blog a few minutes ago. So in case you were looking there, they wouldn't be showing up.

But I would like not to have to do that every time I write.

For some reason when I published my post, WordPress created hyperlinks from various words in my text. Some of them potential annoying to readers. So I figure there must be a way to turn that off.

  4. P.S. I have two blogs. The other one is billpolmwatercolor.wordpress.com.

  5. If you click the Wikipedia suggested links that display under the editor box and labeled Recommended Links then that results in hyperlinks in the text in your posts. Don't click.

  6. Sorry, doing this piecemeal (as I learn). Active link:
    https://writingsmart.wordpress.com/
    Thanks!

  7. In this post I see one active link > Give up on that Piece you’re Writing!

So I put it away, yesterday. Today I was reading a post by Ali Hale (http://www.aliventures.com/)

  8. Thanks for the help! I see what I did now. Perhaps a good motto is: when in doubt, don't click!

  9. Righty O! Best wishes with your blogging. :)
