upload doc and docx

  1. hello!
I have doc and docx files with formated text and images. Is there a way to upload them and make them appear in wordpress site exactly as they appear in MS Word? with all the images and format?
    thanks!

The blog I need help with is medicinewisdom.wordpress.com.

  2. Please see here for accepted file types > http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/
Please see here for instruction for uploading documents > http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/

Note: The following processes are outlined particularly for users who wish to upload a document and add its download link to a blog post or page. If you are seeking to simply upload a document to your blog’s Media Library (no download link), you can check out Media -> Add New in your dashboard. http://support.wordpress.com/media/media-add-new/

  3. If you want to embed the document itself, you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs. Otherwise, the documents will appear as a download link.

    See here:

    Thanks :)

  5. I do not want to embed or put a download link of the file to my wordpress site.

I want to take the text and images from the docx file and paste them to rich editor and publish it. But doing so, it omits the images!

    any hint?

  6. WORD is not web compliant. http://en.support.wordpress.com/microsoft-word/ So when copying and pasting text from it we use icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor, please see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text

Go to Settings > Writing and select “ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

You can upload the images into your Media Library and then you can insert them into the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/

  7. inserting images one by one, verifying and fixing the format little by little of all the post, is not the most convenient thing in the world

since wordpress cannot accept doc format (which is major inconvenience), is there a workaround?

I was thinking converting my docx into html file with a folder containing the images

    can wordpress work with this?

  8. I was thinking converting my docx into html file with a folder containing the images can wordpress work with this?

No. The options posted into this thread above by me and justjennifer are what can be done on a free hosted WordPress.com blog.

  9. Surprisingly http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/ It does say in that Support article that Word 2007 and higher are supported, but given the number of problems with Word's html code, even when using the "Paste from Word" button, I would take that with a very large grain of salt.

Windows Live Writer is supported. You can write your posts offline and then upload them directly to your site. http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/windows-live-writer/

  10. Word 2007 and newer have a blog client capability built into them, but it has to be set up so that it communicates with wordpress properly. It does not allow uploading of standard "Word" documents.
