Upload own file theme?

  1. Hello!

I'm curious about making a WordPress blog, and upload a theme. The theme is not from WordPress, but from ElegantThemes. By clicking on the link, it will pop up the demo version about the theme I'd like to have.

Now, let's begin the questions. After I've spent many hours on the net, searching for videos how to upload a theme, etc. I did not find the final result.. I will be paying for a custom design, when I CLEARLY know how the WordPress theme-uploadthingy works, and how I then can change it in the future.
I've heard that you have to download a program, and input lots of webadresses, etc., to make it be able to connect to your WordPress blog. This is something I have no clue about!
Because I have not been able to pay, and I'm not paying before I clearly know how it works, it might be just that simple. I do not know.

  2. What shall I do there? There's no solution on how to do this! I found a webpage, but this option doesn't seem to be there anymore, or is it just me?

Get a refund for that theme if you intend to continuing having a free blog hosted by WordPress.COM. The only themes we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs like your blog are the themes found here http://wordpress.com/themes/

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs for security reasons and we cannot:

    upload any third party themes,
    create child themes,
    create our own themes,
    edit templates,
    create own own layouts,
or use stylesheets from other themes.

There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes that. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can create themes, upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, and edit the database, etc. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

I don't understand. I've seen a lot of WordPress pages with this theme, but then they might have been using a program to load it in? And after I've searched a bit on the net again now, I found out that I could upload .zip themes? I can't see this option. Is this maybe because I haven't bought the "Custom Design" option?

  6. This is NOT a custom design issue. This is a different software issue. The theme you bought can only be used on a WordPress.ORG install, and not on a WordPress.COM blog. As I said above already:

  7. So the WordPress.org is more diffucult? The WordPress.org is a "copy" of the WP.com then? .ORG is for more pros?

  8. We provide support only for blogs being hosted WordPress.COM and not for WordPress.ORG software installs. I suspect you are posting to the wrong support forum.

WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don't have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

  9. But the .ORG is with the same program?

  10. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different. I have posted that three times and it seems that you still did not read this http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

  11. A lot of "pros" and heavy weight blogs on WordPress.COM - not just for amateurs
