Upload Video to WordPress and Grey Box appears over images

  1. Hi!

I have been trying to upload a video that is a little less than a minute. I am doing so on a MacBook Pro. It's a Quicktime Movie video and, when it finishes uploading, it seems fine. But then when I embed it into the site, and click play, there is grey in place of my video. I can still hear the audio crystal clear.

When I was reading one of the forums, I saw something about adding a Media Element Plugin, so I did so, uploaded the video again and I'm still having the same issue. Please tell me what to do to fix the video.

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards,
    Jillian

  3. Thank you! The video is a .mov, so I definitely followed your above instructions. How can I actually see my video though?

    Thank you!

  4. If you go to my website now and click NY1 Reel and play the video, you'll see the grey in place of the video.

  5. I'm using Firefox 20. and I can view the video.

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com please do these:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache: http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

    2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/

    3. Make sure Javascript is enabled http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654

    4. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    5. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://www.whatbrowser.org/ and also post any error reports you get.

  6. I'm using Google Chrome on a MacBook Pro because I've had success uploading video with it in the past. I'll have to check about my cookies and I'll check Firefox.

Thank you! I'll let you know what happens.

  7. Hi! I went through your checklist (thank you!) and it still wouldn't show the video, but I could hear the audio fine when I was using Google Chrome.

I downloaded Mozilla Firefox and I can now watch the video!!!

So, since you can see the video on IE and I can on Firefox, it leads me to conclude that Google Chrome might be the problem. I went to whatbrowser.org and it says I am using Chrome 26, the most recent version. Any way I can fix this with Chrome?

    Thanks!

  8. hi there,
It's good to know we have isolated the browser issue. I did not view the blog using IE. I used Firefox 20. I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  9. http://jillianangeline.com/2013/05/15/ny1-reel/ is working fine for me, but it's just a Youtube video, not a video uploaded here.
