I wanted to use the name rhymes.wordpress.com for a blog of our company and apparently somebody else misused the name and now it is shut down. Is there a way we can use this name for our company blog.

WordPress.COM does not allow blog URL's to be reused no matter what the reason whether it was suspended or deleted by the owner. This FAQ explains why: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/07/recycling-blog-names/ .
